And So the Major Project/Dissertation Prep Begins...

Sorry for going MIA on the grad school updates front but the last three weeks of school were suddenly insanely hectic. I was traveling up and down 4-5 days a week to meet up with my groups for projects that were all due the same week and life just got difficult. In addition to that, our lectures became mostly guest speakers who were happy to share information with upcoming publishing professionals but weren't so keen for us to blab about our new learnins' online. Therefore, no blog posts.

Alas, it is the end of the year (I can't believe it's going to be 2015 in two days!) and I am beginning to think about my Major Project/Dissertation. In our MA program, we get a choice between a 15,000 word dissertation and doing a Major Project which is creating some type of artifact and writing up a 5,000 word report on the process.

Since I am doing the Digital Publishing Master's, I have pretty much decided to do a Major Project (unless I magically come up with a brilliant thesis idea in the next couple of weeks) and focus on creating some type of website for self-publishers. I have not settled on one idea yet but I've got a couple of documents floating around in my "Major Project" file that I've been working on and digging around the internet looking for interesting research about my topics.

Because I'm in the early stages of development (and so are about 75 of my other classmates) I can't really disclose what I'm working on. Either way, I'll keep you updated as I move forward but these preliminary stages have gotten me really excited about creating a project that will, hopefully, be able to be used by other self-publishers.
